This theme paper explores the critical intersection of psychological well-being and professional adaptation among teacher trainees within tertiary education institutions. As the gatekeepers to foundational school systems, teacher training colleges demand rigorous aca-demic, clinical, and emotional investment from their students. This paper details the dual-factor model of mental health and partitions the concept of student-teacher adjustment into academic, professional, and personal-social domains. It examines the distinct stressors unique to teacher preparation—namely evaluation anxiety, role conflict, and the "reality shock" of the practicum phase. Furthermore, a multi-dimensional assessment framework combining quantitative psy-chometric tools (e.g., DASS-21) and qualitative formative measures is proposed. Finally, sys-temic institutional interventions and policy implications are discussed to highlight how proac-tive mental health cultivation prevents early-career attrition and safeguards classroom instruc-tional quality.
